14-year-old flees police in stolen vehicle, crashes over dam at Winton Woods

FOREST PARK, Ohio (WXIX) - A 14-year-old driver is under arrest and charged with leading Forest Park police on a chase in a stolen vehicle that ended in a crash early Monday.

The Kia Soul went over the dam and nearly into the lake at Winton Woods, a 2,529-acre park in western Hamilton County, police tell FOX19 NOW.

The teen got out and tried to run off but only made it about 100 feet before officers took him into custody without further incident.

It all started around 2 a.m. when police say they got a Flock camera hit on the stolen Kia and then spotted it on Waycross Road and Northland Boulevard.

The teen sped away as soon as police attempted to pull him over and led them on what they called a “very short pursuit.”

He admitted to stealing the car, according to police, who say he told them he did it because “he was bored.”

The juvenile faces two felony charges, according to police: Theft and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer.

He was transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and should go to court Monday morning, police added.
