Mother, grandmother arrested in connection with infant's 2025 death, Greensboro police say
A mother and grandmother have been arrested in connection with the 2025 death of an infant, according to the Greensboro Police Department.
Officers responded shortly after noon on June 18, 2025, to an apartment in the 5200 block of Hilltop Road, where they found a 9-month-old girl unresponsive. Despite efforts to revive her, the infant was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation that included reports from the Medical Examiner's Office, police obtained arrest warrants for the child's mother and grandmother.
The grandmother, Kerry Blackburn, was arrested Sunday. The mother, Desiree Blackburn, was arrested Tuesday. Both are charged with second-degree murder and felony negligent child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.
