The Historical Society of Hopkins County will hold its monthly meeting at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Madisonville City Hall conference room on 67 North Main St. The program will be presented by Madisonville Mayor Kevin Cotton, entitled "Madisonville, Past Present and Future." The public is invited to attend. Entry to the building is through the north side doors.
The Hopkins County Genealogical Society will have a meeting, Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at the Government Center, Fiscal Court Meeting Room, 56 N. Main St. The program will be presented by James R. Columbia, author of "So Long As the World Will Stand: The Story of Kentucky's Polar Expedition Veterans of World War I." There is one Hopkins County connection to this Expedition, William Henry Putty. Everyone is welcome. Please use the north entrance.
The Hopkins County Genealogical Society will have a "Two For One Saturday," Saturday, July 25, at 10 a.m., at the Government Center, Fiscal Court Meeting Room, 56 N. Main St. The first program at 10 a.m. will be presented by Walter Bowman, Archivist of the Kentucky Military Museum in Frankfort, KY. He will be discussing the Military Museum. After a break and refreshments the next program will start at 11 a.m. The second program will be presented by Marvin Bartlett, of Lexington, discussing his book "Spirit of the Bluegrass: Strange, Surprising, and Sentimental Stories of Kentucky." Everyone is welcome. Please use the north entrance.
The Hopkins County B.A.S.S. Club holds their meetings on the second Thursday each month at 6 p.m. at Brothers BBQ. Anyone interested in the club is invited to attend. Membership is open to anyone who has a fishing boat, or who can find someone to partner with who has a boat.
The Hopkins County Regional Senior Citizens Center hosts a history class presented by Spencer Brewer the first Monday of each month at 10 a.m. at the center on N. Main St. It’s free and there are no tests like we had in school. Come join us.
