Boone apartment fire displaces residents; 1 person hospitalized

BOONE, Iowa —

One person was hospitalized and more than 20 are out of their homes after a fire at an apartment building in Boone.

The fire happened on Linn Street near Kate Shelley Drive. Crews arrived early Tuesday morning to find a fire burning in the ceiling of an apartment on the first floor, going all the way up to the attic.

One resident was taken to the hospital. Their condition is not yet known.

Boone County officials say everyone displaced now has a place to stay with support from the Red Cross.
