Keokuk woman airlifted following two-vehicle collision on US 136

WAYLAND — An Iowa woman was flown to a hospital Wednesday morning after her car crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck in Clark County.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 11:00 a.m. on U.S. 136, approximately 1 mile west of Wayland, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report.

Authorities said a 69-year-old woman from Keokuk, Iowa, was driving a westbound 2007 Honda Civic when her vehicle crossed the center line. The car then struck an oncoming eastbound 2019 Ford F-150 driven by a 55-year-old man from Kahoka.

The driver of the Honda Civic was wearing a safety device at the time of the collision. She sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Air-Evac to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, for treatment. The driver of the Ford F-150 was also using a safety device and was uninjured.

The Honda Civic was considered a total loss, and the Ford F-150 received extensive damage. Brewer and Son’s Wrecker towed both vehicles from the scene.

The Highway Patrol investigated the crash, with assistance from the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Clark County Ambulance, Clark County Fire and Rescue, and the Wayland Fire Department.
