Police say a man trying to break up a fight was shot and killed inside a southwest Oklahoma City restaurant before the gunman was fatally shot.

Police have released the identities of the two people killed after a fight led to gunfire inside a southwest Oklahoma City restaurant early Sunday morning.

Police say unarmed man was killed while trying to intervene

At about 12:30 a.m., the Oklahoma City Police Department was called to Dos Cinco Mexican Restaurant on Southwest 25th Street near Harvey Avenue in regard to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found multiple gunshot victims, and some of the victims had already been transported to a hospital by private vehicles.

"A fight broke out between several people, and shots were fired," said Capt. Valerie Littlejohn with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

The situation began with an altercation inside the restaurant.

Police said 23-year-old Mosses Sandoval shot and killed 20-year-old Adolfo Lopez, who was not armed and had his hands up. Lopez was attempting to deescalate the situation when he was shot by Sandoval, according to a homicide report from police.

Sandoval was then immediately shot and killed by another person in the restaurant.

"Through the investigation, we did learn that one of the people that died was also a suspect in the shooting," Littlejohn said.

Investigators are working to identify and interview those involved.

No arrests have been made in the case. The homicide report from police named Sandoval as a suspect.

"At this time, it's still early on in the investigation. Detectives are still trying to piece everything together and determine who all was involved in this incident," Littlejohn said.

The restaurant is closed until further notice.

What began as a normal evening was tragically cut short when an altercation escalated into an act of gun violence, resulting in the loss of two lives. We extend our deepest and most sincere condolences to the families, loved ones, and everyone affected by this unimaginable tragedy. No family should ever have to endure such a devastating loss.

The safety of our guests and staff has always been a top priority. Our security team conducted security screenings at the entrance however, despite those measures, firearms were somehow brought into the establishment by both parties. We are committed to understanding by how this occurred and to doing everything possible to help prevent a tragedy like this from ever happening again.

Dos Cinco has provided ALL surveillance footage to the Oklahoma City Police Department and will continue to fully cooperate with detectives throughout their investigation.

Out of respect for the victims, their families, and the ongoing investigation, Dos Cinco will remain closed until further notice.
