Fort Fairfield Consolidation Meeting Set

FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine (WAGM) -Fort Fairfield residents are encouraged to attend tomorrow night’s meeting going over the proposed regional high school.

Three Aroostook County school districts, MSAD 20 in Fort Fairfield, MSAD 1 in Presque Isle, and RSU 39 in Caribou, are asking the community to weigh in on a proposal to consolidate high school students into one regional school. The districts have discussed the possibility for months. They applied for an Integrated Consolidated Regional High School grant through the Maine Department of Education in October 2025 and the second part of that application is due next month.

RSU 39 held its community meeting on the proposal last Wednesday, September 2nd. Fort Fairfield’s community meeting is tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 8, at 6:30 in the Fort Fairfield Middle High School cafeteria. District leaders plan to explain why they are exploring consolidation, outline the timeline, and hear questions and concerns from community members. RSU39 held their consolidation meeting last week on Wednesday Sept. 2nd. MSAD 1 will also hold a meeting on the proposal on Thursday, September 10, at the Skyway Elementary School auditorium. Locals are encouraged to attend.
