A person was injured in a shooting in Kirby on Monday, authorities said.
Deputies found a person suffering from two gunshot wounds when they responded to reports of a shooting at a Kirby residence, according to a social media post from the Pike County sheriff’s office.
The shooting occurred around 12:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Barentine Road , Arkansas State Police spokesperson Nick Genty said Tuesday.
The victim was taken to a designated landing zone and airlifted to a hospital for further treatment of their injuries, the post said. The victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, Genty said.
An individual believed to be the shooter was detained for questioning at the scene, the post said. The suspect was not identified in the post.
The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division will handle the investigation, according to the post.
The Pike County prosecuting attorney’s office will determine if an official arrest or charges will occur following the investigation, Genty said.
