Turning up the heat even more this summer, GRAMMY® Award-winning reggae icon Buju Banton unveils his anxiously awaited thirteenth full-length studio album, Too Too Bad, out now via Gargamel Music Inc/VP Records.
Elsewhere, DJ Khaled blesses the sexy, slick, and seductive “Wild Woman” with his presence as Buju leans into another side of his ever-evolving signature style. He locks into a smooth back-and-forth with powerhouse Ari Lennox on “Satisfy Me,” while “Heavy Hitters” lives up to its title with a knockout hook. The finale, “Power,” boasts a cameo from Gramps Morgan, and Buju caps off the journey with one final triumphant victory lap.
As his first release on VP Records in 23 years, Too Too Bad represents a full-circle moment. Fans can also experience the album through an expanded 15-track CD edition, featuring two exclusive bonus tracks available only on the physical release. The celebration began this past weekend as the Roots And Rhymes U.S. Summer Tour 2026 arrived at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, on Saturday, July 18. Fresh off the release of Too Too Bad, Buju Banton and Stephen Marley will headline one of the summer’s biggest reggae events, joined by special guest Skillibeng, alongside DJ Norie, Gramps Morgan, and Splackavelli, for an unforgettable night of music and culture.
Meanwhile, Buju is also set to perform at Angie Martinez’s ANGIE’S BBQ, hosted by Power 105.1 at Paradise Coney Island. He joins a stacked lineup alongside French Montana, Remy Ma, Coi Leray, and Zeddy Will. The festivities will also feature food, immersive activations, and giveaways. In advance of the album, EBONY sat down with Buju for an insightful interview, writing, “Buju Banton isn’t chasing fame. He’s guarding a legacy.” Last month, he stepped into A COLORS SHOW, delivering captivating live performances of “House Call” and “Driver A.” Together, the performances have generated nearly one million views.
Buju first set the stage for the album with “Butterflies,” produced by internationally acclaimed hitmaker Supa Dups (Rihanna, Drake, Bruno Mars). Beyond surpassing one million cumulative streams, the single received praise from Reggaeville and others. Billboard described it as “heart-eyed,” while The New York Carib News wrote, “Banton channels the essence of his earlier hits, reminiscent of tracks like ‘Love Sponge,’ as he delivers playful, romantic lyrics aimed squarely at the ladies.”
Right now, Buju Banton and Stephen Marley are in the midst of their massive co-headline Roots And Rhymes U.S. Summer Tour 2026. It marks the first time these two reggae icons have joined forces for a full-scale tour, bringing Jamaica’s rich culture, soul, style, and spirit directly to audiences across the United States. The tour concludes at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia, on July 25.
