Two adults were killed and a child was injured after being struck by a pickup truck in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, on Sunday (August 9). The tragic incident occurred at the intersection of Third and Chestnut streets in Columbia around 11:45 a.m., according to Columbia Borough Police.
The victims, aged 71 and 74, were transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. The young girl involved in the accident was flown to a different hospital for further treatment, though her condition has not been released. The driver of the Dodge Ram pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
Eyewitness Twila Sentz, who lives near the intersection, described the scene as chaotic and distressing. "I heard people screaming, and then when I looked out the window, I saw there were people laying on the street," she said. Sentz noted that the intersection has been the site of multiple accidents in the past.
Police are actively investigating the incident and have urged anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Columbia Borough Police Department at 717-684-7735. They also expressed gratitude to bystanders who provided medical assistance before emergency services arrived.
