An 87-year-old Kasilof man who was involved in a collision on the Kenai Peninsula last week has died of his injuries, Alaska State Troopers said.
Bruce Lape suffered serious injuries after the Subaru Outback he was driving collided with a minivan on the Sterling Highway, troopers said in an online statement posted Sunday.
Troopers said their investigation showed that Lape was driving east on North Cohoe Road when he failed to yield while turning onto the highway around 5:45 p.m. Thursday. Lape’s Outback turned in front of a minivan that was southbound on the highway, troopers said.
Lape suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and then by air to an Anchorage hospital, according to troopers. A passenger in his car was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries. The minivan driver reported no injuries.
Everyone involved was wearing seat belts, troopers said.
