SPARTA, Wis. (WXOW) – Monroe County is hosting a forum on PFAS, also known as forever chemicals, giving residents a chance to get their questions answered.
Organizers say they've seen an increase in questions about PFAS in the county, helping prompt the forum. Experts from the Wisconsin DNR and Department of Health Services will be there, along with local officials from Monroe County Land Conservation and Fort McCoy.
The goal is to provide residents with reliable information, answer concerns and share ways people can reduce their exposure.
"We're doing this forum to provide education but not necessarily to raise alarm. There's been nothing to tell us that we have a higher level of concern now than before, we just want to raise awareness, provide some safe practices, easy solutions that residents can take to reduce their exposure," said Dawn Jacobson, health officer for Monroe County Health Department.
The free forum runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Sparta American Legion.
